Had a good day out visiting 3 different towns around lake Atitlan which are mostly accesses by boat, these were San Juan La Laguna, San Pedro La Laguna and Santiago Atitlan. The lake is a huge volcanic crater which is still surrounded by volcanoes, which tower over everything.
The main street in each of these towns is centred on the harbour jetty, which means that each main street goes straight up the mountain, argh more climbing up these steep hillsides.
The Lake and surrounding area is very pretty and you could probably hire a house quite cheaply and spend a month or so exploring all of this area.
Up until now although it has rained on and off during the trip, this is the first time I have used my poncho, it started raining heavily when the boat got back to Panajachel, and has done so for the last hour, hopefully it will stop before I have to go out again for dinner.
