Antigua

I have arrived in Antigua (Guatemala, not the Caribbean) and had a walk around the town, dates back to the mid 16th century and was the Spanish capital city for Guatemala for many years, many of the buildings were destroyed by an earthquake in the 18th century, and some are still in ruins. I found the fountain in the central square a bit strange, even inappropriate.

Unfortunately the clouds are just above the town roofs, so I cannot see the volcanoes, one of which is active and glows red at night, it looks like rain tomorrow as well, oh well its been pretty good weather so far.

The poncho I brought with me ripped as I was shaking it out, only used it once, it was a Kookaburra brand so should have been better than the cheaper $2 ones, so have bough a new one here today,  hopefully this one will last the trip.

tonight is the last dinner for this tour, and after that I am on my own until I get to Peru.
