Today I rode the Bolivian "Death Road", which half way up turned into Death River, as the rain started again and water gushed down the unpaved road turning it at times into a river, from my point of view it was less dangerous than driving though La Paz, where one of our riders was side swiped by a car. It was a challenging but enjoyable ride with great views down and along the valley, the road is not used much now except by dozens of cyclists, and other tourists who want to drive the Death Road, as a new paved road has been made on the other side of the valley.
After this we have to cross a high mountain pass, navigate our way though La Paz, then continue to cross the Altiplano on a new 4 lane highway to Oruro.
I did have some trouble while crossing the high mountain pass, as I was going round one of the bends I got a flat front tyre, which caused me to skid, the bike went down, and I slid and rolled to a halt on the bitumen. Fortunately I was unhurt and my motorcycling gear protected me from the road abrasions, I cant say the same for my wet gear though which was shredded in several places. within a short time the mechanic had turned up and started fixing the bike, the cause of the trouble was a sharp thorn stuck in the tyre.
We arrived in Oruro in good time considering the delay, about 3:30.
