Arequipa - Puerto Inka

Arequipa - Puerto Inka - Distance: 420 Km.

It is finally time to start our engines and ride, but first we have to get out of the city, which was not too bad considering the way they drive here, we were told not to worry  about the police, as they rarely stop motorcyclists, and not stop them for speeding as they have no radar and are unlikely to pursue as they would not have the petrol to do so.

Started off sunny and warm until 10:00 and then we had to ride through clouds and thick fog and the temperature dropped, eventually as we neared the coast the fog disappeared and but it didn't warm up too much.

For the last 200 km we have followed the coastline on the PanAmerican Highway, where we were so close that it felt like the waves were crashing beneath the bike. the land though is like nothing I have travelled through before, totally bereft of any vegetation, a landscape that could only be described as a totally alien desert of rocks and sand.

Finally after 9 hrs we arrive at our destination for the night, a hotel located in a beautiful cove all by itself, fantastic location.

its weird to think that over that ocean somewhere is Australia
