Nasca - Chalhuanca - 361 Km

Well we got to see the nasca lines this morning. I had a flight all to myself which was great.

Because the flights were postponed from the day before, it delayed our ride start. This was just the start of our troubles for today, we started off with good weather and fantastic road winding up to a 4500 mtr pass, but were soon stopped by roadworks for 2 1/2 hrs. After we got going again within 30 mins it was raining. And continued for the rest of the day. By the time we got to the pass it we had snow and sleet and 0 deg.

While stopped for lunch we found that the truck carrying our luggage had broken down and would not  be at our hotel until 10pm. Because of all of the delays we were still on the road when it got dark and still raining, which is probably the most dangerous conditions that you could ride in when in a country like this. Finally we safely reached a nice hotel in the middle of nowhere (Chalhuanca) at 7pm, all good, and all my wet gear held up so I was dry, unlike some of the others.

The final disaster for me was that my helmet camera broke during the ride, there was a power issue with the adaptor on the bike and I think this has caused it to stop working. oh well, don't usually have one anyway.

in the background of the photo of me (level with the horison) is the highest sand dune in the world, over 3000 mtrs
