10 MAY - DAY 2 TULBAGH TO NAMAQUALAND 190 km

This morning we headed north on good tar roads towards the Cederberg Mountains, and then onto the dirt to ride over 2 mountain passes, one at over 1000 metres. The dirt is rough and rocky in places and was quite bad going up the first pass, but on the flats not too bad, and we are able to maintain good speed on the dirt, at one stage I was "in the zone", concentrating on the road ahead and enjoying the dirt ride, that I missed seeing a number of my riding buddies on the side road where I was supposed to turn off. We have ridden through some really beautiful mountain scenery with the valleys being farmed for wine, fruit and other crops, we finally head to our overnight stop in a beautiful farmhouse on a Rooibos (a local tea) and sheep farm in Namaqualand called Papkuilsfontein Guest Farm.
