Riding north along the cold Atlantic waters of the famous Skeleton Coast with the ocean on my left and the seemingly never ending desert on my right. I'm glad that we are riding on a good road for this section as the fog that occurs regularly in this area soon closes in and although we are riding next to the ocean I cannot see it, vehicles emerge and disappear behind me in the mist.
We stop for a short while to see one of the many shipwrecks that litter this coast, after 80 km we refuel at Henties Bay before heading east into the desert on some very poor sandy roads where the temp soon rises. we cover another 100km focusing on our stop for the night, a desert camp at the iconic Spitzkoppe rock formations. later we ride into the national park to walk around these beautiful rocks, and see the sunset through the famous arch. Our accommodation tonight at Spitzkoppe Tented Camp is in comfortable canvas tents is a bit more rustic.
