Franz Josef Glacier to Queenstown 14 April 360km

With the rain gone it was a long but beautiful ride today, passing lush rainforests, tussock meadows, alpine rivers, picturesque lakes and towering peaks, and the autumn colours of the trees yellow, orange & red are magnificent.

Along the way we stopped at a salmon farm for a delicious salmon lunch, travel over the longest single lane bridge in New Zealand, stopped many times just to take in the views, including Thunder Creek Falls, a lovely waterfall spouting out of the mountain and down into the river below, eventually reaching Queenstown, where my room is overlooking the town and lake.

New Zealand is a beautiful country in which I could easily spend a few more months taking in the wonderful scenery.

  1. Hey John, you've seen more of N.Z. than I have, well at least more of the South Island now. We've got N.Z. weather here today? Yuk! Keep enjoying, maybe we'll have to plan a big one???? Rob
